My account is now active on LJ and DW as Fengi.

Dreamwidth's strength is the ease with which one can import all Livejournal entries (except for videos and some polls) and the cross posting feature. The layout options are more limited, but overall I'm glad it is there.

For various reasons, Livejournal remains my primary site for now. I anticipate copying Livejournal posts into Dreamwidth by hand more than I use the DW crosspost tool. We shall see.

Hey you--I'd like to help you with your layout! I know I commented last night about that, but I'm not sure that entry still exists and I didn't want my offer to get lost in the shuffle.

Oh, also! I don't know if this factors into the crossposting equation, but doing it from the start makes it much easier for you down the line to import comments on your posts from LJ to DW and keep it all together without duplicates. I know that conversation is a BIG part of your journaling and it's good to have a backup. I don't THINK LJ is going anywhere but there has also been some really daunting internet policies springing up in Russia lately and the situation doesn't really feel quite settled yet.

After nearly two years of working with both systems, and maintaining my account here in LJ (which is a lifetime account, purchased during one of the last such sales), I have since found it easiest to post everything into DW, and let it auto-crosspost into LJ.

This.

I usually write my posts in DW, which means I generally self-censor because I can't friends-lock the posts.

Hm. All of my DW posts are friend-locked. Well, reading-list locked.

My LJ friends list is somehow sync'ed up to my access list, so when I post on DW to "Access List", it cross-posts to my LJ friends list automatically.

I use DW mainly for cross posting, yep. I have a few friends on there - if you go to their "Explore" tab on the Homepage, you have a "Latest Things" option, similar to what LJ's used to be like. (GOD I MISS THAT FEATURE.) But like 90% is fanfic, so it's a lot of scrolling to find general journal entries.
